SessionSuite Components
SessionControl supplies fundamental SIP capabilities including SIP Proxy, SIP Redirector, and SIP Registrar functions. SessionControl is RFC 3261 compliant and provides a standards-based core signaling and control infrastructure. SessionControl provides advanced admission control capabilities allowing VoIP calls to be rejected if insufficient resources are available to complete a call with acceptable quality. SessionControl integrates directly with enterprise IT infrastructure such as RADIUS AAA servers and Microsoft® Active Directory, allowing voice to be treated and managed in a manner similar to other IP applications. Web services interfaces permit integration with business applications such as customer relationship management systems.

SessionRelay provides high performance voice and video traffic forwarding and switching under the control of SessionControl. SessionRelay supplies compression and transcoding and supports a variety of CODECs including G.711 variants, G.729 variants, and GSM for voice; and H.263 and H.264 for video. SessionRelay oversees voice and video quality, and enforces quality of service and traffic management policies.

In conjunction with SessionControl, SessionServices provides traditional voice calling and point-to-point video features as a pure software solution. SessionServices delivers popular PBX calling functions along with value-added features such as voicemail, conference bridging, and Interactive Voice Response (IVR). Unlike many commercial PBX solutions, SessionServices works with a wide variety of standards-based softphones, SIP phones, and traditional analog telephones.

SessionGateway bridges VoIP networks and traditional PSTN/PBX infrastructures, allowing VoIP users to place and receive calls with legacy PBX users or users of the PSTN network. SessionGateway works with standards-based third party analog and digital line adapters, supporting a variety of interfaces including T1 CAS, ISDN PRI, and analog FXS/FXO. With SessionGateway, organizations can migrate to VoIP, while making use of previous investments in PBX and telephony gear, and maintaining communications with the public telephone infrastructure.

SessionSpan delivers flexible and integrated boundary solutions for NAT and firewall traversal. Modern enterprise networks are comprised of independent networks with unique address spaces. NAT devices are used to connect with external networks, while firewall technology is used to protect the local network from the outside world. Enabling SIP-controlled communications flows through firewall and NAT boundaries is not straightforward. SessionSpan is used to extend corporate voice services to Internet-enabled mobile workers, or Internet-connected affiliates such as subsidiaries and suppliers plus external service providers and hosting facilities.

SessionManage is a Web-based application for managing SessionSuite services, resources, sessions, users and clients. SessionManage provides a common Web Browser interface for managing all SessionSuite components, and offers integrated fault, configuration, performance and security management for all SessionSuite functions. The SessionManage user portal allows SessionServices subscribers to manage call handling and voicemail features through a secure Web browser. SessionManage provides an XML/SOAP interface for integration with third-party or customer-developed management applications and systems.
